I suppose that makes this a great time to see how good the official translation is(last I recall, the BW volumes were hideously overpriced for how thin they were - charging full volume prices for what amounted to a third of a volume. Maybe they’ve changed?).

Or maybe someone new will pick up the torch, but considering how bizarrely hard it is to find people willing to translate Pokemon stuff(before [PM] got their act together and started releasing consistantly, there was nobody subbing the anime other than the odd special here and there. The same applies to the manga and /a/non scans), that seems unlikely.

Don’t be that pessimistic, now. :P  I have a feeling things may recover a lot faster this time.

Tweets by Satoshi Yamamoto about Team Magma & Team Aqua in Pokémon Adventures

fuckyeahpokevillains:

Remember like two months ago when I put out a call for a translator for hire to decode a batch of Japanese tweets for me? Well, David took on the job, and thanks to his hard work, I now have some exclusive content to share with y’all. I normally don’t post manga stuff, but I make exceptions for things that are especially interesting to me, and this certainly falls in that category!

For those of you who don’t know, both the writer (Hidenori Kusaka) and the artist (Satoshi Yamamoto) of Pokémon Adventures have active Twitter accounts (@k_hidenori_ and @satoshi_swalot, respectively). At one point, Yamamoto released a series of tweets that looked back on the creation of Adventures, reminiscing about the origins of character designs, plot points, and other behind-the-scenes info. In honor of VIZ Media finally getting around to releasing the Ruby & Sapphire arc in the United States (TEN YEARS!) I’ve gotten translated all the tweets I could find where Yamamoto revealed unique tidbits about the villains of that particular storyline.

“In my brain, racked by sleep deprivation and thoughts of deadlines: ‘Huh? I don’t want to use the word ‘bad guy.’ I really hate that old duality of ‘good and bad.’ Can you define Team Aqua and Team Magma as ‘bad’ to begin with?’ I got stuck in this loop of thoughts and became unable to set dialog in the speech bubbles.”

Click “Read More” to see all the info, but be warned—there’s spoilers if you haven’t read the story!

Note that the segments properly called “rounds” are referred to here as “chapters” instead, and that the human characters’ names are left in Japanese, for flavor. I also included pictures~!

I’ve come to the crushing realization that BW ends on June 1st. That’s in 12 days.

How the hell will they finish this without it being rushed? I mean, are they going to push for a volume-only ending? That would suck.

Wouldn’t be the first time, would it?

Hello! As some of you know /a/non will drop Pokémon Special after volume 44. /a/non already announced this in 2011, so this is nothing new. However, I and some other Pokémon Special fans have formed a scanlation group that is currently recruiting more staff. We have already gotten multiple raw…

Pokemon Special Volume 43 - Rough Scanlation (only of the hgss half)
johto is my favorite region of pokemon, so of course i’ve especially enjoyed this arc. i’m finishing up my second year of japanese, which while it isn’t really much at all is enough to look up words and operate a kanji recognition app, and I saw the raws had been posted, so i said what the heck why wait i’m going to go figure out what this says myself. initially i was just going to do this for personal use, but i realized there wasn’t any reason why i shouldn’t let other people read it if they wanted to.
fortunately partway through i found serebii’s chapter summaries, which i then used to make sure i was on track—therefore, this is going to be basically accurate, though it’s likely there are minor things here and there that are totally or just partly wrong
links and disclaimers under the cut (i will also link to the raw pages of the bw section that are new—mostly between chapter pages and volume end pages, but there IS one new regular page)

I won’t be updating with this month’s translation of PokeSP Authors’ messages + Q&A section, because of things in RL. More details over at my blog. I’ll be updating both March & April’s translation next month.

I’m really sorry about this. m(_ _)m

What I can gather from March’s PokeSP Author’s…
